Baron Carlo Manniani, a refined connoisseur and independent thinker, founded Acqua di Parma in 1916 as an alternative to lavish perfumes. The brand embodies the Italian arte di vivere ("the art of living"), the heritage and richness of the country—whether in nature, culture, or art. In the early 1990s, three influential Italians, Diego Della Valle (Tod's s.p.a), Luca Cordero di Montezemolo (Ferrari), and Paolo Borgomanero (La Perla), joined forces in a very patriotic impulse to preserve Italian classics, helping to develop the brand.
