The Freejump Soft'Up Lite is a safety stirrup for young riders and for anyone with a shoe size up to EU 39. It has a single load-bearing branch, a flexible Elastollan outer branch and an eye angled at 45 degrees. The pin on the small branch is swappable, so the stirrup can take on its own colour or motif. At Maddelin in Black/Navy. About this stirrup The Lite is the smallest stirrup in the Soft'Up range. Freejump lists it up to shoe size EU 39 (US 8 women / 6.5 men), which places it straight away with pony riders, junior riders and adults with a smaller foot. It is not a stripped-down version: the engineering the brand puts into its larger models is here as well. What differs are the dimensions of the tread and the upper shoe size limit. How the stirrup works. The load-bearing branch sits on the inside only and works as a suspension: together with the elastomer overmoulding it absorbs part of the forces that reach the stirrup over a fence and at every stride. Freejump calls this its Shock Absorption technology. The outer branch is made of Elastollan, a flexible material that deforms and can swing open under pressure from the foot, so the foot comes free more easily in a fall. Freejump does not count its stirrups among personal protective equipment. Tread and eye angle. The sole carries a supergrip pattern with raised studs, and Freejump works fibreglass into the tread to keep it wear-resistant. The eye sits higher in relation to the sole than on an ordinary stirrup, which shifts the centre of gravity and lets the heel hang lower by itself. The 45 degree angle makes it easier to drop the foot into the stirrup and follows the movement of the leg. That is exactly what you want for a child who is still finding a foot position. Swappable pin. On the small branch of the Lite sits a pin you can change yourself. Freejump supplies these separately, per pair and with a small key, in solid colours, prints and national flags. For a young rider that is often the reason to want this particular stirrup: the same stirrup can match the national colours at a show or the colour of the saddle pad. The limits of this model. Above shoe size 39 it stops; you then move to the Soft'Up Pro or the Soft'Up Classic. Freejump does not list its studs kit for the Lite, only for the Air models and for the Pro and Classic models, so do not assume that the studs on this model can be replaced separately.
