The Zandona Basic Chafe Guard is a simple, highly elastic chafe guard in black. It attaches to the girth with 4 loops and closes around the belly with a double strap. This places a layer of fabric over the girth area, where your legs meet the horse. At 0.35 kg, it is the lightest and most understated Zandona chafe guard at Maddelin, for dressage, showjumping and cross country. About this chafe guard A chafe guard is an elastic band that sits around your horse's belly, where the girth goes. It protects that area against rubbing from the rider's legs. Zandona makes the Basic Chafe Guard in Italy and deliberately keeps the design minimal: a single band of highly elastic, breathable fabric, with no extra parts. Fitting is straightforward. There are 2 loops on each side, 4 loops in total, which slide over the girth. You then close the band around the belly with the double strap fastening. Because the fabric stretches a lot, the band follows the shape of the horse. Within the Zandona range at Maddelin, the Basic sits alongside the Superior Chafe Guard Evo. The Superior has ventilation lines, a reinforced area at the foot, a saddle attachment and is longer in every size. The Basic leaves out those extras and weighs half as much: 0.35 kg against 0.70 kg. If you simply want a light elastic layer over the girth area, the Basic does the job.
